Bookkeeping & Payroll

What's the difference between a bookkeeper and an accountant?

A bookkeeper manages the day-to-day recording of transactions, reconciliations and reporting your business needs to run — invoicing, bills, payroll, BAS-ready records. An accountant typically works from that data to prepare tax returns, financial statements and strategic advice. Many businesses use both, working together.

What is a BAS and who needs to lodge one?

A Business Activity Statement (BAS) reports GST, PAYG withholding and other tax obligations to the ATO. Most businesses registered for GST need to lodge one monthly, quarterly or annually depending on their reporting cycle.

How much does a bookkeeper cost for a small business?

It depends on transaction volume and how much of the bookkeeping cycle you want handled — from a few hours a month for a sole trader through to a full weekly cycle for a business with staff and higher volume. We quote based on a short conversation about your current setup, not a flat rate.

How do I switch bookkeepers?

We ask your current bookkeeper (or you) for access to your accounting software and recent records, reconcile from the last confirmed period, then take over the ongoing cycle. Most switches don't require any downtime.

NDIS Plan Management

What is NDIS plan management, in plain terms?

It's the financial admin side of your NDIS plan — a registered plan manager pays your providers' invoices out of your funding and keeps track of what's been spent, so you don't have to manage that yourself or wait on the NDIA.

Does using a plan manager reduce my actual support funding?

No — plan management is a separate, additional line item in your plan, funded on top of your support budgets. It doesn't come out of the funding you use for supports.

How quickly are provider invoices paid?

Standard practice is to process invoices promptly once they're received and validated against your available budget — most participants and providers don't experience delays once the arrangement is set up.

Can my support coordinator or family member see my plan spending?

With your consent, yes — we can share statements and budget updates with a support coordinator, family member or other nominated contact.
